Safety-Care® for Human and Social Services

Dignified, Safe Support in Community and Residential Settings

In group homes and community programs, incidents often escalate when staff responses vary by shift or experience level. Safety-Care® helps teams apply shared, prevention-first practices so responses are consistent across staff, shifts, and settings—reducing escalation, injuries, and avoidable incidents.

Safety-Care supports practices aligned with the HCBS Settings Rule by prioritizing prevention, de-escalation, and least-restrictive responses that preserve dignity and support community access. Physical intervention is taught as a last resort, with clear expectations for when and how it is used.

Who We Support in Human Services

Safety-Care is used in group homes, foster care, residential and outpatient treatment centers, addiction recovery programs, and elder care settings—places where safety depends on how staff respond in the moment. We support direct support professionals (DSPs), case managers, residential supervisors, behavioral health technicians, and program directors, helping teams build shared, prevention-first practices so responses are consistent across staff, shifts, and settings—not dependent on who is on duty.

When staff know what to do and can rely on shared expectations, confidence increases and burnout decreases, supporting retention in challenging environments.
