Focus Areas of Safety-Care
Safety-Care provides a comprehensive, supportive approach to incident prevention, de-escalation, and management. Staff learn practical, evidence-based, trauma-informed strategies consistent with JCAHO and regulatory standards to improve their safety and that of their patients.
Incident Prevention Training
Safety-Care teaches techniques for incident prevention, including teaching staff how to structure a supportive and safe environment, using appropriate and everyday safety habits, and effectively providing behavioral reinforcement.
Incident Minimization Training
To help minimize incidents, staff are trained to use de-escalation procedures. These include three strategies for decreasing agitation and minimizing the intensity of potential crisis situations: our Help, Prompt, and Wait strategies. Contact us to learn more about these proven strategies for preventing and minimizing crisis behavior.
Physical Safety Training
Physical safety training is focused on staff’s situational awareness and physical protection within their work environments. It includes safety techniques aimed at preventing common staff injuries and includes relevant role-plays.
Physical Management Training
Physical management strategies are more restrictive in application, and these strategies are taught in a least-to-most restrictive sequence. The implementation of these strategies emphasizes safe and natural positioning, minimal intrusiveness, preventing any restriction on breathing, continuous monitoring for the safety of everyone involved, and the briefest possible use.
What Our Customers Are Saying
Beyond being extremely compatible with our applied behavior analytic approach to treatment, Safety-Care truly does provide the first evidence-based prevention and de-escalation system I’ve seen in a crisis prevention course.
