When a physical management incident occurs, most teams are focused on keeping everyone safe in the moment. But how often does your organization examine what's driving how long those incidents last? In this Safety-Care Live session, Melissa Meotti, BCBA breaks down a systematic approach to reducing physical management from both ends: prevention strategies that reduce how often incidents occur, including modifying the environment, functional communication training, and non-contingent reinforcement, and evidence-based fading procedures that reduce how long they last when they do. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of Fixed-Time Release, the research behind it, and concrete steps they can bring back to their teams at the prevention, during-crisis, and systems levels.
Power struggles can quickly escalate situations, strain relationships, and derail positive outcomes. In this session, we explore how and why power struggles occur across settings — and, more importantly, how to prevent them. Through real-world examples and practical tools, you will learn to recognize early warning signs, shift your approach in the moment, and respond in ways that promote cooperation rather than conflict.
